I live in Passaic New Jersey and have 2 unsafe driving offenses on my driving record. These offense are non-point violations, so will this raise the cost of my auto insurance?

In 2004, New Jersey imposed a new automobile surcharge upon drivers who are convicted of “unsafe driving.” This conviction provides for fines, but specifies that no vehicle points are to be evaluated until after a driver is convicted of a 3rd unsafe driving violation.

The NJ Department of Banking and Insurance (DOBI) permits auto insurance companies to set up rating tiers. Under these tier systems, motorists are assigned to various rating tiers according to their driving record and a different risk factors.
