Car insurance companies usually check consumer report. This report will show any possible household members for a certain residence. This is probably the reason why your son is being ask by car insurance companies to list her or prove that she no longer reside with the same household. Your son may need to see what he can do to take her off as a resident from this report.

When insurers pull reports, they have to provide you the phone number to the reporting agency so you can change or correct the information.

There are some insurers that will ask about possible household members. They sometimes just accept the word of the policyholder. If the policyholder provide incorrect information, it is grounds for the insurance provider to “void” the car insurance policy.
