I think that you will not receive anything in the mail if you received a warning by a law enforcement officer for speeding in New Jersey. State laws and local jurisdictions differ though. You did not indicate if you had car insurance at the time.
Most written warnings are placed into the local files of police department computer systems. This is done so that if you are pulled over again in the same place then the police officer that runs your name and license number through the computer will be able to verify that you were given a warning previously and have not corrected your driving style so you would likely to get a ticket the next time already.
Usually law enforcement officers are permitted to use their own discretion in deciding whether to issue a warning or a ticket during a traffic stop. Your actions, your attitude while being stopped and the traffic violation you were stopped for all help a police officer to decide if they will issue a citation or warning.
